Múlastofa in Vopnafjörður

BuildingsHeritage

In the old house Kaupvangur in Vopnafjörður (from 1882), the cultural center of the village,  is the interesting Múlastofa exhibition. It´s dedicated to two brothers from the region that were well known in Iceland in the latter half of the 20st century, Jónas and Jón Múli sons of Árni.

Jón Múli (1921-2002) was known as a reporter on the Icelandic National Radio, jazz musician and songwriter. Jónas (1923-1998) was a journalist, poet and member of the Icelandic parliament. Together, the brothers wrote various musicals and revues that are popular among Icelanders. Many of the brothers’ songs also became popular lyrics. In Múlastofa exhibition  you can listen to the voices of the brothers, talk and sing, and watch videos from the Icelandic National Television collection.

Café Kaupvangur is also in the building.
