Storytellers of Snæfellsnes

FolkloreHeritageNatureTours

Sagnaseiður  on Snæfellsnes peninsula  is an association interested in the historical heritage and storytelling traditions in Snæfellsnes. The aim of the association is to collect, preserve and communicate the historical heritage of the area in various ways.

Some members of the association have developed a unique service in the form of storytelling. They welcome visitors and offer a chat about life and history in Snæfellsnes. Their goal is to tell stories, have a conversation, talk about legends, culture and everything that touches the life and existence of the locals. So if you want to get a good insight into the secrets of Snæfellsnes peninsula, get in touch and make an appointment with a storyteller to enrich your experience.

Three types of services are available:

  • Meet the storyteller on her/his/it’s home turf. It could be a studio, home, farm or any other specific location.
  • Meet the storyteller at a pre-arranged location in Snæfellsnes. Then the location is determined in the union between the storyteller and the guest. It could be at a natural gem, in an urban area, in a hot tub, a national park or a cafe. Short walks are often taken on these trips.
  • Bring a storyteller with you. Then the storyteller will join you on your journey around all of Snæfellsnes. Jumps into your car or bus and can tell you about everything in sight and point out interesting places to stop.
